MEDIA RESOURCES

About the Department:
St. Paul's Way's Media Resources Department provides a wide range of services for staff and students. Modern reprographic, computer, photographic and audio visual equipment is available for the preparation and presentation of teaching materials. The department supports the curriculum through its extensive collection of educational videos, worksheets and booklets and through a variety of services including video production, desktop publishing, printing, web design, display and equipment loans.

A facility for editing and previewing videos is also available for staff and student use. This facility is used to great effect by our Media Studies and Music departments, both of whom have enjoyed good GCSE results in recent years.

Media Resources staff regularly help teachers produce new materials, and record television and radio programmes for playback in classes. The department is also involved in publicising School activities and initiatives to parents and the wider community, via a wide variety of reports and periodicals. A great many publications are produced in the department, including school newsletters, magazines, the School prospectus, the Governors' Annual Report to Parents, not to mention this very website! We also produce learning materials for classes on a regular basis.

Frances Beasley, the School's Display Co-ordinator, has recently joined us and is now based in the Media Resources area. Frances produces attractive displays in the School's public spaces and classrooms.

The department is well regarded in the School and is constantly striving to further improve the service it provides.

Specific Achievements:
In 2002, Alan Hayes, Media Resources Officer, was voted an Outstanding Leader by the children of the School, and received a Jack Petchey Award. This resulted in an additional £1000 from the Jack Petchey Foundation, which was spent on resourcing the department.

Staffing:
Alan Hayes - Media Resources Officer (Head of Department)
Steve Watts - Assistant Media Resources Officer
Frances Beasley - Display Co-ordinator
