Achievements
Lord
Levene, Lord Mayor of London, opens the School's Arts College in
1998.

Visual Arts Achievements
In September 1998, St. Paul's Way became only the second school in the country to be awarded Specialist College status. This was a major achievement, well deserved, and one of which students, parents, staff and Governors feel justifiably proud.

Overall Academic Achievement
The School has benefited from a rising roll in recent years as its reputation has grown. The proportion of girls has risen and we are proud of our students' achievements, both academically (see
Exam Results) and outside the classroom, in events such as the Tower Hamlets Public Speaking Competition, the Stratford and East London Music Festival and local and national sporting events.
Achievements in the English Department
Performance at KS3 and KS4 has steadily improved. At KS3 (44% at level 5/6 in 1999) we are rated above average when compared with schools with similar intakes. At KS4 we are rated well above average when compared to schools with similar intakes. In the last three years at GCSE level we have increased English A*-C grades from 25.5% to 28%, and A*-C grades from 94.1% to 99.4% (above national average). Achievement in relation to NFER baseline testing predictions shows very significant added value. Academic improvement is based on the fact that the English Department provides a calm, purposeful working atmosphere.

Sporting Achievements
In recent years, the School has become renowned for its achievements
in a wide variety of sports. We have an impressive record in Borough
Competitions - SPWCS have been cross country and athletics champions
in the past few years and a number of students have been chosen to
represent Tower Hamlets in the the London Championships and the
Heathrow Games. One student achieved 6th place in the shot at the
London Championships, another has been London champion in the 100m and
the long jump for the last two years and two are ranked 8th and 12th
in England in the javelin and the discus.
student success is not limited to athletics;
one of our Year 8's is ranked 6th in London in table tennis; the girls
reached the semi finals of the Middlesex 7's cricket tournament and
three boys were invited by the Ocean Youth Trust to sail from Poole to
France.
Several students have gone on to gain
national recognition in volleyball, softball, athletics, and football.
One had the honour to play cricket for the Lord's Taverners. At present,
one ex-student is a professional at QPR, another has just been selected to
play for the Bangladesh National Football Squad and he has just been
voted Sony Young Asian Sportsman of the Year. The
