Special Educational Needs
All students have an entitlement to good quality teaching and an appropriate curriculum, including the National Curriculum. Our Special Needs Department provides support to students who need extra help. The support is carefully matched to the needs of the student. The specialist staff work together with the class teachers and parents to enable students with special needs to realise their full potential in all areas of their school life. As necessary, the School uses the services of the Borough's specialist staff, educational psychologists, social and medical staff to advise and support the Special Needs Department in its work with students.

St. Paul's Way is proud to have a Deaf Support Base attached to the School. The unit supports and integrates students with a hearing loss with the rest of the School.

Bilingual Learners
The majority of students at St. Paul's Way Community School speak and often read and write in more than one language. We recognise and value the multi-lingual nature of our students. The school has gradually built a strong language support system which aims at identifying the language needs of our bilingual students and provides appropriate programmes of study to develop students' ability to use and understand English in order to gain full access to the National Curriculum. The EAL Department functions under the guidelines of the Ethnic Minority Achievement Grant (EMAG). Our EAL teachers maintain strong links with the local community and are committed to raise the academic achievement of our bilingual students.
